Problem:

Unrepresentative core recovery and limited capacity of core visual inspection

From 3 to 20% of the core may have cracks, fauna relics, layering deviations. As a result, analysis of such core samples does not necessarily reflect the overall properties of the rocks.

Visual inspection does not allow for the detection of hidden caverns, fauna relics (which may be important for dating the rocks) and other irregularities. As a result, part of the information contained in the core samples is not used.

Digital core macroanalysis

In digital microanalysis you can ‘see through’ the core samples and select those sections that are most representative of the overall rock structure, while identifying inclusions, density anomalies and other irregularities.
