Complex unconventional oil and gas deposits such as shale oil and gas, Bazhenov formation, and Achimov suite require special complex approaches for analysis. Traditional reserves depletion makes a problem of full-scale study of hard to recover reserves of poorly explored deposits extremely urgent. Problems of studying of all reservoirs properties are extremely important for unconventional reservoirs. It is not possible to process effective development of recovery without detailed analysis of physical properties and structures of reservoirs material.
Such reservoirs types are characterized by complexity and inhomogeneity. It is necessary to implement a multiscale approach for their analysis. By the means of macrotomography we highlight characteristic strata and layers. Microtomography of selected samples allows seeing the distribution of kerogen and matrix. Detailed FIB-SEM analysis accurate to nanometers allows exploring components contacts and nanoporosity. The possibility of elementary mapping of Bazhenov formation’s surface is also very important.
